| Tsunderes are one of the worst character archetypes which exist, so any good romance should generally aim not to have any in the first place. (Also, no decent romance plays "who will the hero/heroine end up with" games. You can't write a good romance whilst concealing whom the romance is between.) |

| They just work best for romance anime that tend to drag and avoid reaching a conclusion. The trope and characteristics for tsunderes are a perfect fit for shows like this and hence the main heroine in a lot of them. But just like everything else, too much of it and it becomes annoying. |

| In terms of the romcom genre, I genuinely don't think tsunderes should always be an anime's main heroine. Sure, we've seen tsunderes being the more defining characteristics of the genre, but I think it would be nice to let other -dere types be part of the main action. Don't get me wrong, tsunderes often do a good job when driving the plot along with romcoms, but there are some instances where their antics and drama get a bit too repetitive. |

| Absolutely not! Tsundere when written well can be absolutely great (Kagami Hiiragi, Rin Tohsaka, Vegeta) but most of the time it's just annoying and bitchy, instead of being cute. Himedere > all other dere (except maybe Sadodere), That said, i would much rather see the heroines be written with genuine personalities rather than just being reduced to some overused trope. Most of the best girls in shows i've seen don't really fall into a dere type at all, actually. Hange, Revy, Satsuki (unless Chadere is a thing), Yoruichi etc. |
